Race Beneficiary

Scottish Rite for Children is one of the nation’s leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions and sports injuries, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. Since 1997, Scottish Rite for Children has been the primary beneficiary of the Dallas Marathon and has received $4.5 million in donations from the marathon.

Bella Ivery

Meet Bella (pronounced "Bey-yah"), a 13-year-old dynamo of Dallas, Texas, who has shined bright since her treatment for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis at Scottish Rite for Children under pediatric orthopedic surgeon Jaysson T. Brooks, M.D. A soccer star, who also rocks volleyball, basketball and track, Bella’s proudest moment was conquering her fear of spine surgery and bouncing back stronger than ever. Bella is known for her great sense of humor, big heart and big dreams — starting with becoming a real estate agent!

Easton Carter

Easton Carter

Easton has been part of the Scottish Rite for Children family since birth where he has received expert care for amniotic band syndrome. A true entertainer with a big personality and an even bigger heart, 7-year-old Easton loves comic books, building Lego and riding his bike. But, video games are his true passion. He has beaten Super Mario Bros. Wonder almost 10 times! Proud to be reading at a fifth-grade level, Easton shines whether he is immersing himself in a good book, jumping on the trampoline or dreaming up his future as a YouTube star or astronaut. Wherever he goes, Easton is always ready for the spotlight!

Hattie’s journey is filled with strength, sparkle and unstoppable determination. After undergoing surgery at Scottish Rite for Children to treat arthrogryposis, she proudly learned to walk again — and now walks without her ankle foot orthoses! Cared for by her heroes, Karl E. Rathjen, M.D., and Scott Oishi, M.D., FACS, Hattie dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help kids just like her. Creative and full of spirit, 7-year-old Hattie loves painting, crafts and performing with the Shining Stars at the Chamberlain School of Ballet in Plano, Texas. With bold opinions, a kind heart and a shining presence on and off the stage, Hattie is truly one-of-a-kind.

Juju Martinez

Juju Martinez

Charismatic and full of energy, 7-year-old Juju is the kind of kid who lights up any room he enters. He has received care for spina bifida at Scottish Rite for Children from Richard Adams, M.D., since he was a baby, and his journey has been all about growing stronger and more independent every year. Juju plays tennis through the Tennis All-Stars program at Scottish Rite, loves to make people laugh and dreams of becoming a teacher. His biggest inspirations? His parents, hands down. And, he has a message for everyone: “I love y’all!”

Lorelei Parma

Lorelei Parma

Whether she is on stage, the softball field or the volleyball court, 12-year-old Lorelei is always in motion! She was treated for hypermobility at Scottish Rite for Children by Henry B. Ellis, M.D., and has not let anything slow her down. With a passion for acting, tumbling and musical theater, she has talent and heart to match. Lorelei looks up to her mom who she says is her greatest role model, and her friends know her as someone who is not only creative but also kind, funny and always ready to help.
